Investment casting is a precision casting method with almost no residue and excellent surface quality. It is one of the EPC casting.This technology originates in China at the earliest, Some Chinese ancient bronzes are made by this method. In modern time this method at the earliest is used in the manufacture of artificial tooth. During the second world war it began to use in making very sophisticated or complex and no normal parting side castings.

In our country from early 1950s in aviation and military fields,it started to introduce the Soviet technology for investment casting production. China's investment casting industry is gradually formed from the late 1950s. After the nearly thirty years development of 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, it achieved the annual capacity 5,000 tons and the annual output 0.33 billion RMB till 1988.

With the further development of reform and opening up policy, over the recent 20 years China's precision casting industry has got rapid development.Waterglass (Sodium silicate) casting is arisen from the late 1980s.Although in 1970s China investment foundries had used silica sol as binder, but large-scale using silica sol binder was in the late 1990s.With the continuous development in recent ten years, the investment casting in China has reached the international level, the enterprise whose output value is over 100 million yuan RMB has been more than a dozen.The enterprise having whole silica sol shell making production line has reached more than 400.The waterglass and composite shell companies is over up to 1,500. They are mainly distributed in: Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Shanghai, Fujian,Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, etc.

In 2001 the output of China stainless steel precision casting achieved seventy thousand tons, the production value was approximately 2.8 billion yuan RMB.The annual output value of 2001 increased 21.47% compared with 2000.

The international market for casting demand is strong, our country’s investment casting has already become an industry facing the whole world, the production scale expands unceasingly.

For 10 years the export enterprise in precision casting grows out of nothing, now has been over 300.
