Green castings

The socalled "green casting"is to circular economy 3R namely Reduce, Reuse,Recycling for industry guidelines, make casting and forging products in the the whole cycle from the design, manufacturing, packaging, transport and use to scrap realize the minimum adverse impacts on the environment and highest resource efficiency.

Foundry industry is the base of China’s manufacture industry. But in the production and forging process,it produces a large number waste gas, waste residue and dust. Data shows that the annual energy consumption of Chinese foundry industry takes 25% to 30% of the total energy consumption of mechanical industry. The gross of discharge pollutants is about: 10 million tons dust, 20 billion to 40 billion cubic meters waste gas, 20 million tons waste sand, 6 million tons waste slag. the energy consumption and pollutant emissions of unit output are greatly exceed those of developed countries.How to promote the industry's energy conservation and emission reduction, construct resource-saving and environment-friendly type enterprise is a significant and urgent topic in China foundry industry, also is the key point for realizing the sustainable development and achieving the green casting of China foundry industry.This needs not only the government implemented strict supervision and access mechanism, also needs to research,develope and promote more advanced technology.

Energy-saving and environmental protection is the key to carry out green casting production and realize to sustainable development. We must research and extension the new technology and new equipment to suit the Chinese national condition of energy-saving, environmental protection. Below are some suggestions.

(1) Take melt and heating system as the key point, comprehensive excavate energy saving potential of using the new technology, eliminate pollution to the environment, improve melting quality, reduce scrap rate.

(2) Save material resources, develope renewable technology of material, recycle casting waste, create the highest value of reuse.

(3) Approach from multi-aspects like material, process and equipment to solve the environmental pollution problems.Develope non-toxic refining technology, non-toxic and non-smell binder, white casting accessories, dust removal technology, sand regeneration technology, no dust casting technology.

(4) strengthen the mechanization and automation in production process, improve labor productivity, realize small and no residue foundry production technology.
